Building Permit Applications—How does it work?

The local authority decides on a local committee that will handle the Planning and Building Law. That committee then approves a building permit request, but only after it was provided with proof that the planning and drawing level meet the standards it had established. In order to make this process easier for you, our firm manages the permit process with the authority, and subject to the entrepreneur or client. We are fully versed in all of the Planning and Building Law regulations and in the ne

The local authority and local planning and construction committee only authorize a building permit application after it is proven that the planning meets the standards they had set. In order to ease the process for you, our firm takes care of the entire permit process, subject to the entrepreneur or the client. This procedure could, at times, be long and complex for an office that is not familiar with local procedures, so it is very important to choose a firm with experience in this matter.

Permits for Additional Construction

An additional construction permit application involves a large number of changes that can be done in a property designated for industry, commerce or residence. The changes are made in accordance with the urban building scheme (zoning rules) and the plans it is subject to. For a symbolic cost, one can obtain the terms and bylaws document from the local authorities.

Applicable changes:

  1. Expanding an apartment/enlarging spaces: service and main spaces.
  2. Adding a permanent construction in the yard: shed, pool (including machine room).
  3. “Limited” permit: adding a fence (or raising an existing one), shutters, changes to the front of the house (color, coverings, increasing or decreasing the size of a window, adding an opening).

It is important to remember that the procedures vary between the authorities and according to the permit requested, and include: an application form, measuring map, land development, proof of ownership, signature of the authority’s/community’s committee, a plan authorized by the home front command, the signature of neighbors who share the same court (mandatory!), cuts and fronts, engineer affidavit, land report, photos of the four sides, and an authorized permit for the existing building.

The permit application process will be handled by our firm, once the client has confirmed the plans or sketches for the intended design/addition. The petition will be filed with the local planning and building committee and will include affidavits and signatures by the architect, construction engineer and owner, and according to the type of petition—the neighbors’ consent.

Claude Architects will lead and accompany you throughout the entire process, until the committee’s decision or until receiving the permit. Please leave your details and we will contact you as soon as possible.
